Mohandas Gandhi was an Indian attorney that eventually became a leader of the people. Gandhi taught only on peace and acceptance and with this, gained many followers. He did many things in his lifetime but none could compare to him liberating his home country of India. He also helped liberate South Africa and drive out the British, who were occupying South Africa and India at the time. Gandhi never used any type of violence, but he did use civil disobedience and other non violent actions to succeed in what he wanted to do.
Mohandas Gandhi lived by one of his own quotes and wanted the rest of the world to do so too. He believed that even though things go wrong, there is always a way to get around them and take down the problem. One example of Gandhi taking on a problem was when he was in South Africa. This was when Gandhi wasn't really a well known man but after this he was the most well known man in the eastern hemisphere. He was simply protesting the need for identification cards for Hindus in South Africa given out by the British. To do this, he started to burn them in the form of civil disobedience. When he did this the British started hitting him but he would not stop. This turned him into a world wide known hero for Hindus everywhere and a model for people everywhere.
Another example of when Gandhi protested and was successful took place in India when all of his followers and himself were taken away to jail by the British. while he was in the jail, the British owner of the jail talked to Gandhi and was persuaded by Gandhi to let all of the people go. Gandhi kept protesting and making speeches to the Indian people until they were able to gain independence from Britain and never even fought back to get it either. Gandhi was a worldwide symbol for peace and a great man to everyone in India. There was only one person who disagreed with him, this was the man who killed Mohandas Gandhi and ended the peace. Even though he was dead, his followers still believed in his teachings and carried on his legacy.

Pop culture: India
In the United States of America and India, there is always pop culture and in these cases, art. Art can be classified in many ways but to me, art is paintings or scratches. It is something made with you hands and mind. A lot of the art I found when I searched in India was like this, but it was hard for me to find in the case of the U.S.A. where there was a lot of dancing and street fairs. These two examples are different because one is a scratch festival and the other is mostly paintings and some objects featured as art. They are mostly both on canvases, but they area little different in style, which makes sense due to the difference in cultures and the distance between them.
